By this time next year, people of Chhudzom Gewog in Sarpang will have a smoother road. As of now, the road to Chhudzom from Dekiling Gewog is muddy during monsoon and dusty in winter.

According to the Gup of Chhudzom gewog, the blacktopping of the 45-kilometre road is expected to begin by next month. Bishnu Prasad Rai added that it will reduce the travel time and bring many benefits to the villagers.

With the present condition of the road, the villagers have been spending much more than required on the maintenance of the vehicles.

“Due to the bad condition of the road we are often stranded with broken spring and punctured tyres. Mani Kumar Rai, a resident of the Gewog added, ” If the blacktopping works start early, it will reduce maintenance cost and many other inconveniences.”

Another resident said, ” the present road conditions also spoil our farm produce  and we cannot fetch a good price in the market.”

Chhudzom gewog centre road is the only road that is awaiting blacktopping. The Gewog has the highest number of vehicles compared with other 12 gewogs in Sarpang district. The Nu 58.6 M worth of blacktopping work is funded by the government of India.
