The National Day Lucky Draw team is ready to hold the lucky draw for the 113th National Day celebration. Initially, during the two trials, technical glitches and lack of awareness among the people stirred up confusions and anxiety. This year, the National Day will be celebrated virtually.

Bhutanese including those residing abroad are eligible for the lucky draw program. One needs to register only once. If the registration for the first trial was successful, no need to do it again. But for those who did not register, the registration will remain open till the midnight of 16th December.

The two initial trials were held to rehearse and rectify glitches and errors to set for the main day.

Phuntsho Gayenden, a member of the National Day Lucky Draw’s technical team said, “in our first trial that we had, there were fairly very few participants due to perhaps the difficulties they faced in updating the apps, because, at that time, even the app was actually not approved by the Google Play and the apple store.

“That happened eventually and we hoped for a very good turn out on the second trial. And yet, the second trial did see a lot of improvements but in the second trial, we faced difficulties in playing the QR code properly on the television as well as our system was not able to cope up with such huge traffic.”

However, Phuntsho Gayenden said that the technical problems are now resolved.

“For it, we again ramped it up to the maximum that we could and we also extended the time of the QR code that is being displayed. We optimized the QR code image that we wanted to display so overall, with all of this contribution from the feedbacks, from the challenges which we did see, we have come into a very stable system right now and we have addressed to that challenge,” he added.

According to their official Facebook page, over 60,000 people took part in the lucky draw yesterday.
