Blame it on climate change – paddy cultivation in the country is challenged with a series of threats. The most persistent is the drying-up of irrigation water sources, depriving many farmers of fortunes. This has also led to communities exploring various ways to cope-up with varying challenges.

‘Water Trading’ practice under Nyishog Gewog of Wangdue Phodrang is a trend, quite ancient to the people of the gewog. The way people resort to this practice is almost baffling. People have worked out ways for themselves to divide the much-prized resource, equally among all.

‘Trading White Gold’, produced by Chayku from BBS is supported by BMF’s Climate Change Reporting Grant.
