In keeping with the COVID-19 safety protocols, the 13th Golden Youth Award Camp will begin virtually starting tomorrow. A hundred students, selected from across the country, will take part in the event. The students will compete for the prestigious Golden Youth title.
The Golden Youth Award is a platform to inspire and motivate youth to excel holistically. The youth camp which was supposed to happen last year was postponed this year due to the pandemic.
And unlike the previous years, the youth camp this year will not have sports events.
“During the four-day camp, the students will compete in literary activities, general knowledge and IQ and talent. It will begin at 9:30 am with essay writing. In the afternoon, they will compete in extempore speech. And all these will happen via Zoom,” said Roma Pradhan, senior programme coordinator of Youth Development Fund.
The participants are class ten students of the academic year 2020. The winner will receive a scholarship from the Bhutan Youth Development Fund to study overseas. So far, nine Golden Youth Award winners have received scholarships to The Netherlands, Singapore and Canada.
The 13th Golden Youth Award camp this year is themed Youth and COVID-19. The first Golden Youth Award camp was held in 2008.
