Commemorating the 40th Birthday of His Majesty The King, the first official Institute for Vajrayana Studies in Tago Choeying Phodrang was inaugurated today. The Institute has been established after the decision of the Central Monk Body following a decree from His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering and the Central Monastic Body’s Dorji Lopen Kinley inaugurated the institute.

The institute for Vajrayana studies is established for the first time in Bhutan to enhance the practice of Vajrayana Buddhism. Until now, the practitioners had been acquiring the Vajrayana studies privately from their respective root gurus. However, the institute will now offer the practitioners a complete set of tantric Buddhism practice. The practitioners after learning the Buddha Dharma, can avail the Vajrayana studies before entering in retreat.

Under the guidance of Gyelsay Trulku Jigme Tenzin Wangpo, the Chief Monastic Abbot of Tago Choeying Phodrang, the classes will formally start from next year.
