The new Member of Parliament from Chhoekhor_Tang Constituency in Bumthang, Dawa formally joined the office today.  The oath or affirmation of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

He attended his first parliamentary session today.

Prior to joining politics, he worked as a journalist with the BBS.

The bye-election was called for after the Chhoekhor_Tang representative and former Opposition Leader, Pema Gyamtsho (PhD) resigned in August.

He secured 2,889 votes winning the seat by 1,182 votes in the bye-election contesting against Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s Tenzin Norbu.
