Seven more bar/shop owners arrested in the last three days for operating after 9 pm

Thimphu police arrested seven owners of shops and bars in the last three days for breaching COVID-19 protocols taking the total number of defaulters to 10 within a week. All of them were caught operating their shops after 9 PM.

Three bar owners were arrested last Wednesday, five more last Friday and one each on Saturday and yesterday. They will be charged under section 448 of the Penal code of Bhutan for the Breach of Public Order and Tranquillity.

Initially caught three bar owners were sent on bail after paying Nu 50,000 each and their cases were forwarded to the court. Police are forwarding the rest of the cases to the court today.

Police with DeSuups are patrolling every day with special intensive ad-hoc patrolling thrice a week.
