To revitalize the lost tradition of storytelling, iBEST Institute in Thimphu launched an online platform, Dragon tales, stories for children today. It will contain stories with different themes in the form of illustrated books, audio, and video.

Once complete, Dragon Tales, stories for children is expected to share a common history, reinforce cultural values, and highlight important traditions through various stories. It will be available both in Dzongkha and English language.

“Dragon tales is a platform whereby we bring in the stories and share through our platform. We have basically the illustrations, voice and video through which we will share our stories. We will also accept entries whereby people can write and tell stories and these stories will, later on, converted to illustrations, visuals and audio which will be uploaded on our platform,” said Sonam Rinchen, the CEO of iBEST Institute.

For now, artists, animators, writers, and other team members are busy engaged in developing the content. The team currently has compiled and finished working on nearly 100 stories.

Besides, the project will also incorporate contemporary issues such as waste management, sex education, mental health, and women empowerment. Themes like space, science, technology, nature, and other co-curricular activities will also be explored.

The project will be officially launched next year coinciding with the birth anniversary of the His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck.
