Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s (DPT) candidate for the Chhoekhor_Tang bye-election, Tenzin Norbu launched his door-to-door election campaign today from lower Chhoekhor. Meeting with the voters and soliciting for their support, he, however, didn’t share any pledges today.

Tenzin Norbu began his campaign by visiting homes in Jalikhar and Gongkhar of Bumthang town. The 35-year-old told BBS that he wants to declare his pledges after tomorrow evening’s Live Public Debate. However, according to his election manifesto shared with media, most of his pledges are those of the former Opposition Leader. Likewise, the pledges are mostly developmental works included in the 12th Five Year Plan. He also told BBS that he has included few activities that are not included in the government’s current Five Year Plan activities, which are doable in his own capacity if he wins the election.

Tenzin Norbu is from Jambay Lhakhang under Bumthang town. He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management and Tourism from Switzerland and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from India. Before joining politics, he worked as a private businessman in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Meanwhile, the candidate will continue his campaign on Friday at Chamkhar. As President of the DPT, the Opposition Leader will join him soon to campaign for the bye-election.

Kipchu, Bumthang.
