ECB announces six more bye-elections for Local Government posts

Along with the bye-election of Chhoekhor_Tang Costitiunecy, the Election Commission of Bhutan will be conducting six more bye-elections for the local government posts. The Poll Day for all the bye-elections will be on November 19 of this year.

While the Chhoekhor_Tang Demkhong will be electing a National Assembly Member, the Boomdeling Gewog under Trashi Yangtse will be electing a new Gup after the incumbent was removed from the office following a forgery case in May this year.

Mangmi in Goenshari Gewog under Punakha Dzongkhag and Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Peljorling chiwog of Pungtenchhu Gewog under Tsirang Dzongkhag where vacancies resulted upon the demise of incumbents; and

Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Balam_Morphu Chiwog of Balam Gewog, Thrinaphu Chiwog of Na-Rang Gewog under Monggar Dzongkhag and Ngangmalang_Zorjoog Chiwog of Zobel Gewog under Pema Gatshel where vacancies occurred due to prolonged ill health of incumbents.

According to a notification from the ECB, the election campaign for the bye-elections will commence from 29th of this month and will stop 48 hours before the start of the Poll.
