To support people whose livelihoods continue to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu will be continued for another three months from October to December. Affected individuals will continue to receive Kidu amount of Nu 10,000 (full amount) and Nu 7000 (partial amount).
The Kidu is applicable only for those who have been laid off or on unpaid leave or reduced salary from businesses in tourism and tourism-dependent sectors, to the employees of businesses that are mandated to remain closed, individuals engaged in self-operated businesses in tourism and tourism-dependent sectors that have no earnings, and Bhutanese working abroad who have returned home because of loss of employment.
The affected individuals are required to submit the application at royalkidu.bt. While the application is open to new applicants as well, the applicants from the last six months are also required to re-apply.
Since its launch in April, the Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu granted Nu 1.2bn to more than 33,000 beneficiaries and over 14,000 children.
