Druk Phuensum Tshogpa declared its candidate for Chhoekhor_Tang constituency in Bumthang for the bye-election. The constituency was vacant after the former opposition leader and member of parliament of Chhoekhor_Tang constituency resigned.
35-year-old Tenzin Norbu from Chhoekhor Gewog in Bumthang is the new candidate. He has 11 years of work experience in the private sector. Tenzin holds a Post Graduate Diploma from the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration from Switzerland.
The Opposition Leader, members of the parliament (opposition) and party supporters were present during the candidate declaration today.
The former Opposition Leader from the Chhoekhor_Tang constituency resigned on 7th September. According to the Election Act, a bye-election for filling any vacancy to Parliament shall be held within a period of 90 days from the date of the occurrence of the vacancy.
Meanwhile, Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa said the party will announce its candidate after the Thimphu Tshechu.
