After remaining closed for more than a year, the petrol, oil and lubricant (POL) service located near Autsho town in Lhuentse started operating from Monday. The POL service stopped since May 2019 after a fire razed the temporary structure from where the POL service was provided.

Today there are 100 subsided LPG cylinders and 9,000 litres of diesel in the POL station. However, the POL service will not be providing any petrol products currently due to the highly inflammable nature of petrol. The POL service will benefit the gewogs of Jarey, Maedtsho and Tsaenkhar under Lhuentse.

According to an official from Regional Trade and Industry Office in Monggar, 95 per cent of the works were complete and only the installation of the dispensing pump is left now. He added that the fuel station was supposed to be operational from March this year but due to global pandemic situation, procurement of dispensing pipes and other equipment got deferred and its operation also got deferred. And until the situation improves, the deadline for full operation of the fuel station is yet to be decided.
