Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag COVID-19 task force is taking various measures to prevent cross border transmission of the virus with increasing cases of Coronavirus in the neighbouring Indian state of Assam.

One of the important preventive measures is quarantining all the import items or products coming from India for at least 24 hours.

The imported items are either quarantined in the designated quarantine area or in the godowns of shopkeepers when the designated quarantine area is full.

According to the Dzongdag, they have been quarantining all imported items since May after increasing COVID-19 cases in Assam.

According to the latest figures reported by India media, Assam has more than 30000 confirmed cases with about 74 deaths.
