53 people have been placed under home quarantine in Nganglam, Pema Gatshel, after coming into contact with a Bhutanese man, arrested for breaching border protocols on July 19.

The 28-year-old man was caught by a border patrolling team, while he was returning from Dhawdhari village, India. According to local officials, the man had visited the neighboring Indian town two weeks ago as well.

The man who is in a facility quarantine center in Nganglam has tested negative on the RT-PCR test for COVID-19.

Officials said that despite strict surveillance along the borders, monitoring such illegal trespassing is a challenge due to the thick forest cover and many illegal routes along the border.

For now, the 53 people who are under home quarantine and the man are being closely monitored by health officials and Desuups.
