Bhutan will enter the red zone only if a person outside of the quarantine facility test positive and the source of the virus cannot be traced. It will not be called a community transmission if the source of the infection is traced. This is according to Ugyen Tshering, the Programme Officer with the Health Ministry.
“The red zone that we have for the pandemic in the country is when the country has multiple cases of COVID-19 and local transmission. It is the situation when we are not able to trace the source of the origin of the infection. Partly, it could be sporadic and partly it could be a cluster of the outbreak and yet we are not able to identify the source of the origin,” he said.
