Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) handed over 350 D-type oxygen cylinders worth USD 50,000 to the Ministry of Health in Phuentshogling, today. KOICA Bhutan World Friends Program Office provided the medical supplies to help Bhutan respond to COVID-19 pandemic.

While handing over the oxygen cylinders to the Ministry of Health, the program coordinator of KOICA Bhutan World Friends Program Office, Eunkyoung Koh says the assistance is a part of Korea’s effort to fulfil the commitment and show solidarity in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. She also highlighted that Korea stands firmly as a true friend and partner to Bhutan.

“KOICA Bhutan World Friends Program Office is recently opened in Bhutan and this assistance is our first official project. I am so happy about it. I hope that it helps Bhutan respond the COVID-19 pandemic. Korea will be a good friend of Bhutan,” said Eunkyoung Koh, the programme coordinator.

The oxygen cylinders will be sent to the hospitals in Thimphu, Gelegphu and Monggar. The government of the Republic of Korea also supported Bhutan with COVID-19 test kits worth USD 400,000 in May, this year.

KOICA is a government agency of the Republic of Korea founded in the year 1991. The world friends program is a volunteer office under this agency. KOICA implements grant aids and technical cooperation, supporting the socio-economic development of partner countries on behalf of the Korean government.
