Twenty-six foreign workers were apprehended in Pasakha, Phuentshogling on Tuesday while trying to cross the border into India without completing necessary formalities.
According to the Press Release from the Department of Immigration, three individuals helped the workers get to Phuentsholing in a truck and a DCM. A taxi driver, truck driver, and a DCM driver has been detained for further investigation.
The press statement said that relevant law enforcement agencies are carrying out further investigations and legal action will be taken against the perpetrators in accordance with due process and the rule of law.
The Department of Immigration has also urged all employers to remain vigilant and ensure that their foreign workers do not leave without completing formalities with the embassy of India.
