Thimphu Thromde is currently widening the road from Chubachu till Jungshina bridge and from Taba till Dechencholing in Thimphu. The widening work on the roads has aggravated commuters.

Earthmovers such as excavators and stone crushers have been deployed at the site causing massive dust pollution and muddy road during the monsoon. The road stretch can currently only accommodate a single lane of traffic due to the ongoing widening works.

The Thimphu Thromde said that the four-lane road construction work at both the sites will be completed by July next year.

Thrompon Kinley Dorjee, said that they are aware that many people are facing problems and are angry and frustrated. “But while developing the town areas, certain problems are bound to occur.”

“We are trying to build the four-lane stretch from Ngabi-Rongchu till Dechenling so that we can minimize traffic congestion in Thimphu,” he added.

Thimphu Thromde has allocated a total budget of Nu 200M for the road widening works. The work at the sites began in March this year.
