The government is going to establish three regional National CSI Development bank offices to enhance loan access to entrepreneurs. The Finance Minister announced this today at the National Assembly.

Lyonpo Namgay Tshering said that with one project officer in each Dzongkhag, the government is ready to start three regional offices.

Meanwhile, deliberating on the recommendation by National Council to establish a CSI estate in Eastern Bhutan, the economic affairs minister, Lyonpo Loknath Sharma, said that starting a CSI estate in Eastern Bhutan will be a challenge with the lack of people coming forward to work for the estate.

Lyonpo said that the Ministry is however working on establishing a CSI estate in Tsirang and Startup centers in Samtse and Monggar.”It is better to set up CSI estates Dzongkhag wise. We are also looking at establishing in Bumthang and Paro as a pilot project.”

With just 13 votes from the parliamentarians, the house rejected the CSI estate recommendation from NC.

The Finance Ministry has allocated Nu 288M under the CSI flagship program for the establishment of Estate and Startup centers.
