A book titled ‘Bhutan at her best’ was launched in Thimphu yesterday. The 342-page book is an anthology of articles and poems on the nation’s response to COVID-19.

According to the co-publisher, former Education Minister, Thakur S Powdel the book honours the leadership of His Majesty the King, efforts of the government, and the positive spirit of the Bhutanese.

Speaking to BBS, the co-publisher said that the fight against COVID-19 is yet to be over but during this tiring times, there was hope and deep patriotism, and Bhutanese witnessed the rebirth of humanity in renewed glory.

He said, ” Everyone has been pitching in, our farmers are contributing whatever they produce, some are offering their properties to the government while others are contributing in cash and kind.”

He felt there was a need to honour the energy, goodwill, and solidarity shown by Bhutanese from all walks of life so that it can be remembered by the future generations.

” We cannot let this particular moment in the history of Bhutan just go by, nations need a record of their experiences, record of their memories, this is how we build history and this is how we build the nation, ” he added.

After meeting the cost of production, the sale proceeds from the book will be contributed to His Majesty’s Relief Kidu Fund for COVID-19.

The book was co-published and co-edited by Needrup Zangpo, Executive Director of Bhutan Media Foundation.
