May 28 is observed as World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The annual awareness day highlights the importance of good menstrual hygiene management. Access to sanitary napkins is seen as one of the most effective ways to manage menstrual hygiene.

In Samtse, a group of teachers has been making sanitary napkins in the school. This initiative has not only helped girls in their school but also others in schools around the vicinity.
