Wangdue Phodrang District Court sentenced a 35-year-old man from Kazhi Gewog to five years in prison for the criminal attempt to voluntary manslaughter. The judgment passed yesterday also asked the convict to pay the compensation of Nu 7,000 to the victims within ten days from the Day of Judgment.

According to the judgment, the convict under the influence of alcohol had a fight with a 58-year-old man. He used a knife and injured the victim severely. The wife of the victim also suffered minor injuries during the fight. The incident occurred in October last year in Belangdrak village.

However, they can appeal to the high court if not satisfied with the judgment within ten working days.
