GoI approves 110 projects worth Nu 1.7bn

The Government of India approved 110 projects worth more than Nu 1.7bn as part of High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) today.

The approved projects will develop urban infrastructure, farm roads, health and education infrastructure, irrigation channels and renewable natural resources amongst others. According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, the projects will create economic opportunities for the rural communities and contribute to improved livelihoods, job opportunities and food security. It will further help in boosting the economy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The projects are part of the 12th Five Year Plan. The Government of India has approved more than Nu 7.4bn of which Bhutan received more than Nu 2.8bn so far.
