Health Minister Dechen Wangmo said that a group of women who were trained in tailoring by multiple CSOs like BNEW, RENEW and Tarayana Foundation will produce around 200,000 face mask and other personal protective equipment (PPE) gears.

The government will buy the face masks to be distributed to people who are economically disadvantaged. While helping them, she said this will also provide economic stability to women making the PPE kits.

“Day before yesterday we received 80 PPE kits. We have started using it. In two or three weeks, they will produce 2500 of it. The surgical mask will be used for doctors. For the community, the women have committed to producing 200,000 such face masks. They produce thousands of face mask in a day,” said Dechen Wangmo, the Health Minister.
