About a thousand acres of forest have been lost to a fire in Toedwang Gewog in Punakha. The fire that broke out on 6th April is still not under control.
Forest officials, police, Desuups and locals are still trying to contain the fire. According to the chiwog Tshogpa, there are no reports of any casualties or damages to private properties so far. However, he says there are risks of the fire spreading to the settlement.
