Upon the command of His Majesty the King, the COVID-19 Hospital has been set up at the Royal Guest House in Monggar. The COVID-19 hospital consists of an isolation ward, intensive care units for adult and children, operation theatre and other basic facilities, in case there is an outbreak of coronavirus in the eastern Dzongkhags.

Speaking to BBS, Mongar Dzongrab Jamyang Cheda said,“We have arranged 24 beds for isolation cases with a surge capacity of 7 beds at the lower zimchung and 8 beds at the upper zimchung.”

While the hospital has already installed ventilators in the ICU, there is a need for additional ventilators based on the number of bed available.

Meanwhile, as a part of medical preparedness and response against COVID 19 pandemic, two flu clinics were set up in Gyalposhing and at the Monggar Regional Referral Hospital. The Dzongrab said the flu clinics have screened 3816 people so far.

A COVID-19 testing lab has also been set up in the Monggar Regional Referral Hospital to test suspected cases. So far, seven suspected cases were tested at the lab. All test results were negative.

The Dzongkhag administration has also been carrying out door-to-door sensitisation program. The Dzongrab said getting adequate supplies in the market, and making people follow instructions especially declaring travel history is a challenge.

The Dzongkhag administration has also identified 30 quarantine centres in Monggar. Currently only one person is in quarantine, in the Dzongkhag.
