HH the Je Khenpo appoints new Machhen Zimpon of Punakha

His Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed 61-year-old Namgay Wangchuk from Phangyuel in Wangdue Phodrang as the new Machhen Zimpon of Punakha Dzong today.

The new Machhen Zimpon served as the Lam Neten in Wangdue Phodrang Rabdey for the last six years prior to the present post. He also served as the Lam Neten of Trashigang Dzong for five years and two years in Monggar Rabdey. Earlier, he was also the Lam for Lungtenphu Military Headquarter for six years.

He began his monkhood from the age of six in Wangdue Phodrang Rabdhey.
