COVID-19 cases globally crossed 950,000 with the highest infection of over 200,000 reported in the United States. The death toll has climbed above 5000 in the US. The international media also reported that the US federal government’s reserves of protective equipment and medical supplies were almost exhausted.

Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States have all reported the highest number of deaths in a single day since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic. Yesterday, the US reported over 1000 deaths. And the number of confirmed infections in the US was more than 25000 in a single day. The worst hit place is New York City where more than 1300 people have died so far.

Italy and Spain with more than 100,000 cases also overtakes China who has more than 82000 cases.

In Asia, India has around 2000 confirmed cases with over 150 recoveries. And in what is reported as a matter of critical concern, a 56 year-old man, with no travel history, has become the first person to die from coronavirus related disease in Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi in Mumbai. The slum area is home to over a 1 million people.
