The Bhutan Foundation officially handed over a 40-foot shipping container carrying donated medical supplies and equipment worth Nu 1.13 M to the Ministry of Health.

“These much-needed supplies have come in timely during the COVID-19 crisis and will be fully utilised,” said a Bhutanese health official, according to a press release from the Foundation.

The medical supplies and equipment include oxygen and therapeutic respiratory apparatus, personal protective equipment (PPE), orthopaedic appliances, syringes, surgical equipment, and other disposable medical supplies. The medical supplies will be distributed to various health facilities and hospitals in Bhutan. The PPE and disposable supplies include face masks, hand sanitizers, face shields, disposable gowns, and surgical gloves.

The donated supplies were obtained in partnership with MedShare, an American organisation that sources and delivers medical supplies and equipment to communities around the world.

The Bhutan Foundation has been working in partnership with Bhutan’s Ministry of Health over the last decade to develop emergency medical services, provide health services to nomadic populations, and promote public health research in Bhutan.

The Foundation, in its press release, commits to continue supporting towards improving medical services in Bhutan by donating medical supplies and equipment.
