Following the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) globally, the daily lives and planned projects saw changes and deferments across the world and in the country as well. And in Langthil Gewog, the inauguration of the much-awaited Basic Health Unit (BHU) Grade-I is postponed.

Health official in Trongsa said, for time being the nation is busy advocating and creating awareness on preventions and preparedness in case of COVID-19 pandemic in the country too. This was shared during the District’s Seventh Dzongkhag Tshogdu yesterday.

Langthil gup Sonam Dhendup said, having a fully operational Dhangdoong BHU Grade-I at this point of time will immensely benefit the three gewogs of Korphu, Langthil and Draagteng. However, the health official said, a wait for a month or two is advised as the grand inauguration will attract a crowd which is discouraged at this point of time.

Meanwhile, the BHU now has a Doctor, staff and equipment ready for the operation at any time.

The construction of the BHU first started in 2014. It missed several deadlines and the health official attributes the failure due to the contractors. Once operational, the BHU will cater health services like X-ray, dental, ultrasound and diagnostic lab facilities.
