The government will discuss with the Indian government on opening more entry and exit points besides Phuentshogling and Samdrup Jongkhar on a need basis.
According to a circular by the Indian government on closing border gates, other entry and exit points such as Gelegphu, Samtse, Nganglam and others will be closed except for Phuentshogling and Samdrup Jongkhar.
“Some places such as Jomotsangkha has no other option if it is not through India. So we are planning to talk with the Indian government to consider such cases. However, if there are options and people want certain points to be open just for their personal convenience, it will not be considered. People should also understand as the country is going through difficult times,” said Dr Lotay Tshering, the Prime Minister.
