The recent outbreak of Canine Distemper in Dagana town has claimed three dogs. Around five more dogs are reported to be affected by the outbreak.

However, people living in the area say the number could be much higher as the number of affected stray dogs cannot be tracked. The Dzongkhag Veterinary Sector has been closely following the case in providing Canine Distemper vaccinations to pet dogs and supportive treatments. The official said, literally there is no risk of transmitting the disease to humans but however, reminds people to be mindful since it is a viral disease.

The Dzongkhag Veterinary Sector is of the view that the cause of the outbreak must be from wild animals or transmitted from infected dogs from its nearby places.
