His Majesty promotes Chief of Police, a Brigadier and a Colonel of the RBG

His Majesty The King promoted Brigadier Sangay Thinlay and the Chief of Police, Brigadier Chimi Dorji to the rank of Major General this morning. His Majesty The King also promoted Colonel Pema Dorji to the rank of Brigadier.

62-year-old Major General Sangay Thinley of the Royal Body Guards joined the service in 1979 and is serving as the Secretary to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. He is also the recipient of  Peacetime Distinguished Service Medal (Drakpoi Thugsey) and Medal for Outstanding Service during Conflict (Druk Yugyel).

Likewise, 60-year-old Major General Chimi Dorji from Haa has been serving as the Chief of Police since 2016. The recipient of the Light Treasure of the Armed Forces (Drakpoi Norbu Yoedsel) medal joined the service in 1985.

Similarly, 56-year-old Brigadier Pema Dorji of the Royal Body Guards is from Tangsibji, Trongsa. He joined the service in 1987 and is the Commandant of the Royal Body Guards.
