After waiting for over a couple of years, Autsho residents under Tsaenkhar Gewog in Lhuentse will soon get a fuel station. It will be at Jachung, a few kilometres away from Autsho town. Currently 75 per cent of the work is complete and the station is expected to be ready by the end of April this year.

The construction started in October last year after a fire gutted the temporary fuel station located near Autsho town in 2018. Once operational, it will be cutting the cost and the time for people in Autsho and nearby areas to get fuel and LPG cylinders.

“In the past, even people from Monggar used to come here in Autsho for fuel and other petroleum products. However, without a fuel station in Autsho, we have to travel almost 40 kilometres to either Monggar or Lhuentse for the service. If we have a fuel station here, it would also benefit many nearby gewogs,” said Tsheringla, from Autsho under Tsaenkhar Gewog in Lhuentse.

“We had a fuel station near Autsho town. But it was shut down due to a fire incident in 2018. But today, we have to drive to Lhuentse or Monggar for fuel and LPG cylinders. So it would be beneficial for us if we have fuel station here,” added Sonam Wangda, also from Autsho.

In the old fuel station, the fuel was dispensed from the barrel. However, the new one will have an underground fuel tank with a carrying capacity of 20,000 litres each for petrol and diesel. The station will also have fire safety measures in place. And there will be four staff including the manager working at the station.
