Rededicating their responsibilities to gain public trusts and confidence, the Judiciary signed an Oath of Allegiance to His Majesty The King. With this commitment, the judiciary expects to give timely, speedy and fair justice by efficient judicial processes.

According to Article 2, section 5 of the Constitution of Bhutan, “Upon the ascension of the Druk Gyalpo to the Throne, the members of the Royal Family, the members of Parliament and the officeholders mentioned in section 19 of this Article shall take an Oath of Allegiance to the Druk Gyalpo.”

The judiciary of Bhutan, however, to remind themselves of their duty signed the Oath Of Allegiance again yesterday. This time, led by the constitutional post holders, the entire judiciary judges and staffs signed the Oath of Allegiance.

“This is the Oath of Allegiance submitted to our head of the state, our beloved King. Since we have all pledged ourselves with affixing our signature on the historic document, I feel that everybody would be reminded every day to take our responsibility, our sacred responsibility of delivering timely and expeditious justice,” said Kuenlay Tshering, the Officiating Chief Justice of Bhutan at the Supreme Court.

The Judiciary also planted 40 trees inside the vicinity of courts across the country.
