A couple aged 49 and 60 from Tsheldhang village under Nangkor Gewog in Zhemgang is under Zhemgang Police custody for the alleged murder of an 80-year-old mother of the 49-year-old wife.

According to sources from the village, the incident occurred on the night of 23rd January when the deceased had an argument with her daughter and the 60-year-old son-in-law at around 7 pm. Sources said, as the argument turned ugly, the son-in-law allegedly pushed the deceased when she tried to hold him. The deceased is said to have collapsed thereafter.

On the same night, one of the grandsons of the deceased reported the case to the village Tshogpa, whereby the police were informed and the couple arrested.

Zhemgang Police did not comment on the case citing that the case is still under investigation.

However, BBS learnt that the case has been forwarded to the Dzongkhag Court recently.
