The National Assembly adopted the Tourism Levy and Exemption Bill of Bhutan 2020 today.

The government presented the Bill as a Money Bill to the House last month following which, the Environment and Climate Change Committee was instructed to review it and present the recommendations during the third reading. The Bill saw recommendations on the title of the Bill, preamble, application, a levy on regional tourists, and exemption of tourism levy.

Of the 44 members present in the house, 43 voted yes.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly also adopted the Negotiable Instruments Amendment Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2020, yesterday. The Good Governance Committee of the National Assembly had made two recommendations last month regarding unauthorized signature and dishonour of cheque.

All 44 members present voted in favour of the recommendations. The bill will be forwarded to the National Council for deliberation.
