Paro FC is optimistic for a win against Defenders FC of Sri Lanka in tomorrow’s second leg of the Preliminary Round One of the South Asian Zone qualifiers for the 2020 Asian Football Confederation.

In a press conference this morning, Paro FC’s coach Jangchuk Dorji said the players are physically fit and that the weather is going to be in favour of the home club.

“Our boys are fit and we are ready for tomorrow’s match. We are comfortable playing in a suitable environment. My boys will perform better tomorrow. We won’t undermine our opponent because they are a good team. They may face a problem playing in this cold and chilly weather. Otherwise, they are a good team. Tomorrow we will do much better than last time in Sri Lanka,” shares Jangchuk Dorji, the Paro FC Coach.

During their last face-off in Sri Lanka, the captain of Paro FC said they made an error in the defensive line up conceding an equaliser at the dying minutes of the game.

“The boys are mentally and physically prepared and motivated as we are playing in front of the home crowd. About the last match in Sri Lanka, we had a miscommunication between our defenders and goalkeeper but we have worked on it. We will do better in tomorrow’s match,” said Jigme Tshering Dorjee, the skipper of Paro FC.

In the first leg of the game, the match ended in a 3-3 draw at Race Course International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Conceding 3 goals at home, Defenders FC has to win the match or draw it with not less than 4-goal margin to qualify for the 2nd round.  However, Defenders FC coach Dudley, during the press conference, said his players are mentally and physically prepared to take on the home squad tomorrow.

“It is a very important match for us. We have prepared very well for this match. Our boys are physically and mentally okay. Of course, the weather might come into play. Today morning it was minus 4 degrees. But the players know that because we need this type of competition, we need adaptation. We have to consider our defensive transition. It needs to be organized more and well. Paro FC, they are really good on set play and transition especially in the offence,” said Dudley, the Defenders FC Coach.

The match will kick off at 2:30 PM Bhutan standard Time tomorrow at the Changlimithang stadium. The winner of the match will then face the Champions of the Hero Indian Super League, Bengaluru FC in the preliminary round two next month.
