National Assembly agrees to increasing the mining shares for public from 40 to 49%

Amidst the controversy of minerals managed by only a handful of people, the Economic and Finance Committee of the National Assembly today recommended having broad-based ownership in mining operations.

The committee recommended having a minimum of five owners who are not from the same family and 40 per cent of shareholdings to be floated to the public.
