Norway continues its grant assistance

The Norwegian government granted Nu. 288 million for institutional strengthening of energy Sector, support mitigation of Geo-hazard for hydropower development and road tunnel feasibility study between Thimphu to Wangdue Phodrang in Phase IV.

The agreement was signed between the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norwegian Embassy, Ann Ollestad and the Secretary of Gross National Happiness Commission, Karma Tshiteem.

Earlier in the morning, during the Bhutan-Norway annual consultation meeting, Bhutanese counterpart presented their achievement and challenges faced during the implementation of phase III of institutional strengthening of energy sector. In Phase III of the project, the Norwegian government donated Nu. 288 million.

The first phase of the agreement for assistance to Institutional Strengthening of Energy Sector and Water resource Management planning by Norwegian government was signed in 2001. The project is being implemented over a span of three years.
