The 24th session of the National Council to begin from tomorrow

The 24th session of the National Council will commence from tomorrow. During the session, the House will discuss legislative issues, policy issues and follow-up resolution of the 23rd session of the National Council among others.

The session will begin with the deliberations on the follow-up reports on the resolutions of the 23rd Session of the National Council. The National Council will deliberate on issues related to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), reducing harmful use of alcohol, fronting issues, recommendations on Annual Anti-Corruption Commission Report 2018, and issues concerning government’s decision to remove the cut-off point of class 10.

The House will introduce and deliberate on legislative issues including Civil and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019, the Penal Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019, the Minister and Minister Equivalent Post Holder’s Entitlement Bill 2019 and Impeachment Procedural Bill of Bhutan 2019. The House will also introduce the review report on the Entitlement and Service Conditions Act for the Holder’s Members and Commissioners of Constitutional Offices of Bhutan and the Lhengye Zhungtshog Bill of Bhutan 2019.

The review reports on policy issues include the Program initiatives toward improving the Quality of Education, Legislation and Strategies for addressing Human Trafficking, RNR Marketing Policy Review and Policies related to Vehicle Imports.

This session, the deliberation will also focus on the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2020, the Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan, the Tourism Levy Exemption (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2020, the Fiscal Incentives (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2020, the Goods and Services Bill of Bhutan 2020, Property Tax Bill of Bhutan 2020, Pay Revision (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2020, and the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year of 2019-2020

The session will end on the 5th of March.
