Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) opened its first office in the country for its volunteer programmes today. KOICA Bhutan World Friends Program Office will manage volunteer programmes for sharing its development experience with the people of Bhutan.

The first batch of four volunteers arrived on Monday. Their assignment will start in February next year for a duration of one year. The volunteers will work as instructors in the areas of hospitality management and physical education in various schools and institutes in the country.

Bhutan has been receiving Korean volunteers since 1998 and they have been assisting Bhutan in the areas of sports including archery, basketball and taekwondo.
