Trongsa District Court’s judgment on the land scam case has ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to take administrative action against its officials for violating the Anti Corruption Act 2011. The officials were found to have failed to advertise the notice of seizure of land through two media houses as required.
The judgment states that the ACC had admitted they had failed to abide by section 107 of the Anti-Corruption Act to publicize the seized immovable properties through two media houses.
Since this mistake was found to be against the code of conduct as per the Act, the judgment asked for administrative action against the concerned officials and to submit a report to the court.
It also directed former Trongsa Dzongda Lhab Dorji to file separate cases against ACC and a private newspaper company. The convict claimed that he was defamed by a story written by the paper based on information provided by the commission.
The judgment also stated that ACC had not charged several other people including the then Land Record Officer and a landowner who had received land substitute and took part in a fraudulent transaction.
The court also directed ACC to file charges against the main complainant in the case for failing to report the case to relevant offices.
