Paro FC is currently leading the race in the ongoing country’s top domestic league, BOB Bhutan Premier League.  Meanwhile, High Quality United FC, BFF Academy FC, Druk Stars FC, Paro United FC and Phuntshogling United FC are struggling to make it into the top five spots of the championship as they currently sit in the relegation zone of the point table.

Ten Football Clubs from four different districts are taking part in the competition this time.

After registering their 13th win of the competition against Paro United recently, Paro FC further extended their lead in the point table by another three crucial points. In a derby match played at the Paro Woochhu Sports Arena last week, Paro FC thrashed their cross-town rivals Paro United by 10 goals to 2. So far, Paro FC has only lost one game out of the 14 games played this season.

On the other hand, With only 7 points separating them from the current league topper, Transport United FC looked forward to edging closer towards Paro FC as they faced High-Quality United FC yesterday. The 90 minutes of intense soccer between TUFC and HQUFC saw Transport United emerge victorious as they won the match 4-3. With the win, TUFC has now reduced the gap to 4 points between them and the current topper, Paro FC but the current league leader has a game in hand.

However, Transport United FC feels going by the upcoming fixtures of Paro FC and a game in hand advantage, Paro FC are in a better position to win the Championship this time.

“I am happy that we won the match today. The boys and the team did their best to win the match today. We don’ts see ourselves competing for the top spot as Paro FC has a game in hand advantage and are doing good as well. However, we are looking forward to booking the second spot,” said Dawa Tshering, the TUFC Captain.

As per the latest point table, Paro FC and TUFC are gradually followed by Thimphu City FC, Ugyen Academy FC and Druk United in the third, fourth and fifth position. At the bottom half, Phuntshogling United FC is yet to register a win in the competition. They are currently placed at the bottom of the table with no point and has conceded over 100 goals until today.

Ellon Maxwell of Paro FC is the current top scorer of the league with 37 goals so far.

Paro FC will now host High Quality United FC at the Paro Woochhu Sports Arena on Sunday for their 15th match of the competition.
