The Department of Roads has proposed a budget of Nu 15 M in the next financial year to construct a 100 feet long Bailey bridge over Jangkorongchu under Serzhong Gewog in Sarpang. In absence of a bridge, people of Tashiphu remains stranded during summer.

Crossing Jangkorongchu is not a problem at this time of the year. But, during monsoon, the road to Tashiphu is cutoff. Students at Norbuling Central School often have to skip their classes. Jankorongchu divides Norbuling from Tashiphu village.

“The gewog administration is not in a position to fulfil people’s request for a bridge over Jankorongchu. So, the gewog approached the Department of Roads. Since the proposed bridge is along the Umling Gewog centre road, it will benefit three gewogs,” said Tshering, the Serzhong Gup.

People are now hopeful that the budget will come through and give them a bridge.
