Prosecuting the alleged sexual harassment case involving three former lecturers of the College of Language and Culture Studies (CLCS), Trongsa police requested the district court to summon an official from the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). This is to clarify the reasons for dropping some of the charges against the defendants.

During the rebuttal hearing on 1st October, the prosecutor submitted to the court that, in July, the OAG has dropped charges for one of the defendants. The office then directed the police to prosecute him if they could uncover new evidence. Police submitted that they could not find new evidence.

Concerning this, the prosecutor said, the Police Act does not mention anything on dropped charges. Therefore, clarification is sought.

Police said, for now, they are prosecuting the case as per the OAG’s directives.

Meanwhile, submitting rebuttal on the other three former lecturers, the prosecutor explained their intentions of sexually abusing students.

One of the defendants touched a girl student and made unwarranted moves such as pinching and touching her. Another accused forcefully kissed a girl student with doma in his mouth. The third defendant, the police submitted, touched a girl inappropriately while she was watching a football match.

The prosecutor said the evidence for the allegations will be submitted during the hearing.

The three defendants will rebut on 10th October.
