Sustainability of the Film Association of Bhutan (FAB) Secretariat is one of the challenges faced by the Association. To address this, the existing members decided to create a trust fund to support the functioning and programs, as FAB celebrates its 20th anniversary this month.

To start with, the association invited all the potential donors in an event yesterday.

According to the FAB,  the fund generated besides supporting the association will be used in an efficient way by providing support to the deserving members of the association.

“The fund will be invested in risk-free ventures and the revenue earned from it besides supporting the secretariat will fund the annual calendar of activities and provide welfare and other special benefits to marginalised and deserving members of the association,” Karma Tshering, the President of FAB, said.

The FAB was established by a group of senior and pioneering filmmakers in September 1999. The film industry has since made remarkable progress and contributions to the Bhutanese society. The film industry has produced around 500 feature films, released thousands of music albums and generated a revenue of at least Nu 1.5bn to the Bhutanese economy.
