Dengue positive cases in the country increased to over 2600 as of yesterday. This is an increase of more than 500 positive cases in a period of one week. The cases have been reported from 19 dzongkhags, and Phuentshogling hospital recorded the majority.

Although the dengue outbreak has been contained in Doksum, Trashi Yangtse, the cases have been on the rise across the country. Phuentshogling hospital alone recorded more than 2000 dengue cases.

According to a press release by the Health Ministry, there has been less number of reduction in the number of dengue cases besides efforts for containment by District Health Rapid Response Team and Dessups.

Bumthang Dzongkhag reported three Dengue positive cases and became the second last dzongkhag to report dengue cases. However, the patients had a history of travelling to dengue-endemic areas.

According to health officials, prevention and control activities are important to avoid a second outbreak in the places where it has been contained.
