The Dzongkhag Tshogdu members were informed of an additional Nu 509 M allotted to Samtse as part of the National Day Footprint Initiative.

Of the total budget, Nu 120 M has been allotted to do the much-needed maintenance of the Samtse-Tendruk highway. Nu 220 M has been allotted to expand the hospital in Tashichhoeling Gewog. Other plans in the initiative include constructing a town hall, improving the Samtse-Haa highway, maintenance of Samtse hospital, starting a health information service centre, and starting a Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institute.

After the 111th National Day celebrations in Samtse, last year, the prime minister promised additional developmental activities for Samtse dzongkhag as footprints of the national day. The prime minister, while celebrating this year’s teachers’ day in Samtse shared about a new college in Samtse, which will now come in the form of a TVET Institute.

The minister of economic affairs, Loknath Sharma, handed over the National Day Footprint Initiative to the dzongkhag administration during his visit earlier in August.
